Woodhaven Public Library

Queens, New York

Located in Queens, the Woodhaven Public Library is the last Carnegie Library built in the U.S. A 1960s renovation damaged its original brick façades, removed key interior features, and added dropped ceilings for air conditioning.

The current renovation aims to restore the grandeur of the main reading room, reorganize library spaces, and make the building fully accessible with a new stair, elevator, and exterior ADA ramps. The original masonry openings will be restored, and a redesigned entry garden will enhance the public space.
